Delta 8 THC is a cannabinoid derived from the cannabis flower, but is found in smaller amounts compared to Delta 9 THC, its psychotropic, well-known cannabinoid relative. Delta 9 and Delta are very similar but Delta 8 offers a high all its own. Our consumers of D8 THC report they experienced a nice body sensation and some cerebral effects.
Delta-8-THC is similar and binds to the CB1 receptor that is found in the central nervous system. This is where you receive the medicinal help for symptoms stemming from nausea, pain, and anxiety.
The THC Delta 8 is considered psychoactive but is a far less potency. This cannabinoid has important medicinal effects for our future health.
The National Cancer institute says this about THC Delta-8:
“delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol An analogue of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) with antiemetic, anxiolytic, appetite-stimulating, analgesic, and neuroprotective properties. Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8-THC) binds to the cannabinoid G-protein coupled receptor CB1, located in the central nervous system; CB1 receptor activation inhibits adenyl cyclase, increases mitogen-activated protein kinase activities, modulates several potassium channel conductances and inhibits N- and P/Q-type Ca2+ channels. This agent exhibits a lower psychotropic potency than delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC), the primary form of THC found in cannabis.”
